Halloween Events This Year!

A Huge Thank you to our Alaska's Kids Organizer Jamie for putting together this post! She's done a great job hunting down this years local Halloween events for us!

ANCHORAGE/EAGLE RIVER

Fall Carnival-- Anchorage Muesum Oct 23rd 10a-6p Included with museum admission: $10 adult, $8 senior/student/military, $7 child, free ages 2 and younger
Wear your Halloween costume to the museum and enjoy hands-on science activities, listen to spooky stories, paint a pumpkin and more.

Trick or Treat Street-- The 4th Ave Market Oct 30 2-5p FREE
An event for the whole family where kids can come downtown with their parents to trick-or-treat for candy in a safe environment, on 4th Avenue and 5th Avenue, between C Street and L Street. There will be games, treats and prizes at participating merchants and a Halloween stamp map where kids and parents come in and get their maps stamped at every location. Completed maps will be entered into a drawing for prizes.



Enchanted Forest-Halloween Program for Wee Ones-- Eagle River Natrue Center Oct 30 11a $5 per child; $5 parking for non-members
Families with pre-school children are invited to the “enchanted” classroom yurt for games and healthy treats. Call 694-2108 for tickets ($5/child or $20 per family). Additional $5 parking for non-members. Interested in helping with this event? Contact Doris Ivory at naturalist@ernc.org or 694-2108

Old Hallows Eve-Halloween Program for School Aged Kids--  Eagle River Nature Center Oct 30 2p $5 per child, $5 parking for non-members
Families with school-age children (grades K through sixth) are invited on a guided walk around the Rodak Trail. Visit the friendly witch in the big hollow tree, then arrive at the classroom yurt where treats and games await. Call 694-2108 for tickets ($5 per child). Additional $5 parking for nonmembers. Haunted Trails-- Goose Lake Park Oct 29 4-8p $10 per family
A family event filled with thrills, chills and all things creepy, with games and activities for the less brave. There will be a pumpkin patch, face painting, storytelling and a creepy, scary haunted trail. Come dressed to impress in your costume. Childrens' activities begin at 4 p.m., and the Haunted Trail opens at 6 p.m.

"Not for the Very Young or Faint of Heart" Halloween Storytelling presented by the Storytellers Guild of Anchorage

Great Pumpkin Festival -- Spenard Rec Center Oct 30 11a-3p $5 per family
Have a treat and join the fun at the Lions Club Great Pumpkin Fest. Enjoy music, games, a costume contest, parade, arts and crafts, face painting, games and more. Food and beverages are an additional fee.  
Scredy-Cat, Splat! Storytime-- Barnes and Noble Oct 23 11a FREE
Scare up some old-fashioned fun at Halloween Storytime on Saturday, October 23 at 11:00 am. Join us for a reading of Scaredy-Cat Splat and other stories, wear your costume, and enjoy treats and Halloween activities.

Annual Halloween Spooktacular-- Borders Oct 30 11a FREE

Its our annual Halloween Spooktacular Kids ages 3 to 8 are invited to join in on the fun Well read scary stories, play spooky games, do a creepy craft and top it all off with a terrifying parade Costumes are encouraged.

MAT-SU

Night at the Museum II-- Museum of Alaskan Transportation and Industry Sat Oct 30 3-7p $5
Another year of fun and fright at the Museum of Alaska Transportation and Industry. Come trick or treat the characters who come to life in the gallery, then take a spooky tour through the trains. This Halloween event is geared for the younger set. Parents and Guardians are required. All proceeds to benefit the museum.

Halloween Hollow-- Raven Hall on the AK State Fairgrounds Oct 30  2-8p  $5 or 1 New Unwrapped Toy per person. (Please NO Stuffed Animals)
Raven Hall on the Alaska State Fairgrounds is turned into a country trick or treat carnival. There are over 35 games and activities for children newborn to 14 years. Come see the new improved event! 

Fairbanks/North Pole

Scaredy-Cat, Splat! Halloween Storytime and Party-- Barnes and Noble Oct 23 11a FREE
Scare up some old-fashioned fun at Halloween Storytime on Saturday, October 23 at 11:00 am. Join us for a reading of Scaredy-Cat Splat and other stories, wear your costume, and enjoy treats and Halloween activities.

Museum Halloween-- University of Alaska- Museum of the North Oct 29 4p FREE with donation of canned food.
See bats, bears, birds, bugs and more in the museums research labs. Explore the galleries in a scavenger hunt. For children ages 12 and under with adult supervision. Free admission with donation of canned food for the Fairbanks Community Foodbank.


Steese Volunteer Fire Department's 6th Annual Haunted House-- Oct 30 (did not list time)
We will have two haunted houses operating at the same time. One will be dark and scary, with zombies, vampires and other creepy monsters trying to get you. The other will be more of a small haunted fun house for the younger kids. Sparky might even make an appearance. Admission is free for both.
Kenai/Homer
HOMER--Chapman School Halloween Party -- Chapman School Oct 29 6-8pm
Come play games, buy some raffle tickets, food, and a costume contest!

KENAI--Trunk or Treat-- Boys & Girls Blub of Kenai Oct 31 2:30-4:30 p  FREE
Come in costume as you trick or treat through car trunks! Then go inside for a carnival where you can play games and win prizes!

    Zoo Boo on Halloween and the Alaska Zoo!
    Dress up the kids and bring the to the zoo from 8-10pm for some trick or treating! A haunted house will also be set up in the greenhouse. Check the website for more details or to buy advanced tickets! http://www.alaskazoo.org

    Haunted Halloween Fun Night-- UAA Bookstore Oct 30 1-7p Kids can buy tickets to play games and win candy. Lots to do!

  3. Does anyone know when kids actually do trick or treating in the neighborhoods? Is it Saturday or Sunday which is actually Halloween?

  5. Free Harvest Festival--Salvation Army Campus- 1712 A St Sat 1-4p
    Free festival features games, pumpkin decorating, costume contest, candy, and more. Great safe alternative to trick or treating.

  6. West High's Haunted Theatre
    Saturday, Oct 30 1:00p to 8:00p
    at West Anchorage High School Auditorium
    A Halloween option for students in kindergarten through sixth grade. Includes activities, games, trick or treating and a tour of West High School's Haunted Theatre.
    Admission $3.
    Adult chaperons free

    at Fairview Recreation Center
    Come out and have fun with us at the Fall Harvest Carnival. There will be a Balloon Toss, Cake and Cupcake Walk, and many more games!
